Squads

Swimmers of similar competency are grouped into squads and train within the squad in an encouraging environment to achieve their personal and group goals. Our three squads are listed below, and to view our squad training timetable, click here.

Lockwood & Meir (Juniors)

This is the Junior Squad. It provides a transition from Learn-To-Swim lessons to competitive swimming. Squad members must be able to swim competently in Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly.

This squad introduces the members to training programs and competitions. All facets of training are introduced, including sprint and distance, time cycles, dive starts, turns and technique drills with little pressure on the children to perform and an element of fun is kept to learning. The general age of this member is 7 – 12. These sessions run for an hour but can be reduced temporarily for the beginner.

Enticott & Cantrill (Intermediates)

This is the Intermediate Squad. These members are more experienced and technique is more refined. Training takes on a slightly more competition-driven approach, with sets focused on developing particular energy systems and stroke components. The general age of this member is 10 – 14. These members are expected to swim for an hour and a half session. Some members may be interested and capable in qualifying for State Championships, others may train for local competitions or just fun and fitness.

Dutton & Day (Seniors)

This is the Senior Squad. Members are ready to refine strokes and technique in detail and increase endurance. The general age of this member is 13 and up. Some members are very driven and motivated to improve times and ability. Others may still be training for fun and fitness. The only expectation at this high level is to swim for one and a half hours, this can be once a week or more, depending on the enjoyment and motivational level of each member. More opportunity is given but is not compulsory.
